IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) is one of the most impacting robotic research conferences, and it is annually organized by the Robotics and Automation Society of IEEE and the Robotic Society of Japan (RSJ). According to the core conference ranking, this conference has an "A" rating. The conference has the second highest h5-index in the category 'Robotics'. I have presented two papers in this conference,

IEEE WCCI 2022 is the world’s largest technical event on computational intelligence, featuring the three flagship conferences of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) under one roof: the 2022 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN 2022), the 2022 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems (FUZZ-IEEE 2022), and the 2022 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (IEEE CEC 2022).

I presented the paper entitled “Global and Local Area Coverage Path Planner for a Reconfigurable Robot” under the IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (IEEE CEC 2022). The conference has the second highest h5-index in the category 'Evolutionary Computation' (h5- index: 75, Source: Google Scholar Metrics). The paper is coauthored by me, Dr. Viraj Muthugala, and Dr. Mohan Rajesh Elara.

Bhagya Samarakoon secured 3rd place in SUTD 3MT competition held on 23th June 2021. Her presentation was about "Reconfigurable Robots for Improving Cleaning Coverage". 

IEEE WIE visit Schneider Electric Innovation Hub Singapore. Schneider Electric hosted this interesting visit and shared their innovative technologies such as smart building management and green energy as with our team.

Moderator of the event "Identifying Career Crossroads " held on 7th Oct 2020 under IEEE Singapore Festival organized by IEEE WIE SG and IEEE Young Professionals SG. The speaker of the event is Mr. Ivan Choong an Engineer turned management consultant turned career coach.

Speaker in R10 (APAC) IEEE Women in Engineering web panel series  which discussed how tech innovation has transformed to tackled the pandemic and what we gained from this pandemic and how to adapt for a sustainable new normal.

A research paper titled “An Exploratory Study on Proxemics Preferences of Humans in Accordance with Attributes of Service Robots ’’ was presented at the 28th IEEE International Conference on Robot and Human Interactive Communication (RO-MAN) held from Oct 14 - 18 in New Delhi, India.

Postgraduate matriculation day held on 11th of Sept 2019 at Singapore university of Technology and Design. Started PhD in Engineering Product Development Pillar (EPD).  

Graduated M.Sc. (by research) from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka with effect from 01 st of November 2018.

Thesis title: Replicating Human-like Proxemics Behavior in Approaching Mechanisms of a Domestic Service Robot (Link)

A research paper titled ‘Proxemics and Approach Evaluation by Service Robot Based on User Behavior in Domestic Environment’’ was presented at the 2018 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) held from Oct 01 - 05 in Madrid, Spain by myself and Dr. M. A. Viraj J. Muthugala  in the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Moratuwa.

Team 'Bathkoora' secured the 2nd place at the MathWorks Mini Drone Competition held on 3rd and 4th October 2018 in Madrid, Spain as a part of IEEE/RSJ IROS 2018 conference. Viraj Muthugala, Chamika Perera, Bhagya Samarakoon and Isuru Ruhunage are the winning team members of University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. 

Presenting a paper entitled, “Replicating Natural Approaching Behavior of Humans for Improving Robot's Approach toward Two Persons During a Conversation” in 27th IEEE International Conference on Robot and Human Interactive Communication (RO-MAN) held from Aug 27-31 in Nanjing, China. The paper won the Nanjing city prize for its originality, usefulness, and scientific and technical soundness of the contribution.
